Hello! My name is Agnikumar Ras and I am created to kindle the digestive fire (Agni) and restore the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract. I am primarily used for digestive disorders (ajirna), loss of appetite, diarrhea and dysentery, malabsorption syndrome (sprue), vomiting and nausea due to indigestion. I also help with abdominal pain, dyspepsia, gastroenteritis, constipation, bloating and excess mucus (kapha), and some classical sources mention me for edema, inflammation and anemia as well.
My base form is tablets (pills), traditionally weighing about 125 mg each.
My main benefits
- I kindle the digestive fire.
- I help with acute and chronic indigestion, relieving heaviness and bloating in the abdomen.
- I soothe diarrhea, dysentery and malabsorption syndrome, when food is poorly absorbed due to weak digestion.
- I reduce nausea and vomiting that arise specifically from indigestion.
- I help eliminate excess mucus (kapha) from the digestive tract.
- I gently stimulate intestinal peristalsis and ease the condition in constipation related to weak digestion.

My effect on doshas
I pacify Vata and Kapha doshas. Due to my sharp, heating nature (mainly due to pepper) I increase Pitta dosha.
My composition
- Maricha (Piper nigrum) ~40%
- Kaparda Bhasma (calcined cowrie shell) ~15%
- Visha / Vatsanabha (Aconitum ferox, purified) ~15%
- Shankha Bhasma (calcined conch shell) ~15%
- Rasendra (purified mercury) ~5%
- Gandhaka (purified sulfur) ~5%
- Tankana (purified borax) ~5%
Maricha (black pepper) - the main component by volume, sharp and warming, kindles Agni and helps eliminate excess kapha and mucus.
Kaparda Bhasma (cowrie shell ash) is traditionally used for abdominal pain and weak digestion, considered a source of calcium.
Visha (purified Vatsanabha) is used in minimal, carefully purified amounts and, according to classical views, powerfully stimulates the digestive fire and relieves pain.
Shankha Bhasma (conch shell ash) traditionally reduces excess acidity and bloating, supporting digestion.
Rasendra (purified mercury) together with Gandhaka (sulfur) form the base - kajjali, the traditional basis of many herbo-mineral Ayurvedic preparations.
Tankana (purified borax) helps break down mucus and stagnant masses in the digestive tract, supporting lightness of digestion.

FAQ
How long can Agnikumar Ras be taken?
Usually the course lasts up to one month, as prescribed by an Ayurvedic doctor, after which the state of digestion is reviewed again.
Can Agnikumar Ras be taken without consulting a doctor?
No, since it is a herbo-mineral (rasaushadhi) preparation, it requires strict medical supervision regarding dosage and course duration.
Can Agnikumar Ras be combined with modern medicines?
It can, but it is worth maintaining an interval between doses and consulting a doctor beforehand, since some Ayurvedic remedies may interact with modern medicines.
For which types of indigestion am I most useful?
I am best suited for Vata- and Kapha-dominant indigestion; in excess Pitta (heartburn, acidity) I am used with caution.
Is Agnikumar Ras suitable for children and pregnant women?
Use in children, pregnant and breastfeeding women is possible only by separate prescription of a doctor.
